[Class 100 (iii)] Quadding - apparatus; justifying matrices.- Relates to means for preventing excessive justification of a quadded line containing few spacebands, which may result from the yielding of the spring member, that applies the clamping pressure to the jaws, under the pressure of the justification-spring. The second justification-lever 6 carries an adjustable slotted link 7, which engages a stud 8 on the quadding-lever 4, which is operated to close the jaws by a cam 1 acting through a spring-box 3. Excessive movement of the lever 6 thus causes the pressure of the justification-spring to be transmitted to the jaws. The slotted link may be replaced by a shackle or a stirrup. If the line contains no spacebands, the full pressure of the justification-spring is applied to the jaws.
