Abstract

528,836. Adjustable scats. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and BOOTH, J. H. May 20, 1939, No. 15057. [Class 52 (ii)] Relates to a seat, particularly for motor road vehicles or aircraft, of the kind wherein a frame 9 is adjustable along guide channels 13 and the guide channels are connected to the supporting structure 16 by pivots 17 so that the seat may be tipped about the pivots independently of the adjustment of the frame 9 in relation to the guide channels 13. The invention consists in the provision of means, for example side flanges on the supporting structure 16 for positively preventing sideways movement of the guide channel 13 in relation to the supporting structure 16. The frame 9 is retained in adjusted position by a spring-pressed catch 22 engaging notches in the channel 13, and is liberated therefrom by a handle 30. When the channel 13, after being tilted about the pivot 17, is returned into the structure 16, the two parts are retained in engagement by indentations 20, 21, Fig. 4.
