Abstract

528,657. Moulding cement slabs &c. ISMAN, U. May 11, 1939, No. 14136. [Class 87 (ii)] For making slabs &c. from cement mixtures with fibrous or granular substances the materials are mixed dry and placed in the mould 1 and liquid necessary for the setting and hardening is thereafter introduced by the application of an elastic cushion 6 soaked with water, the whole being subjected to pressure. The elastic cushion may be interposed between a, perforated metal sheet 7 and a sheet of cloth 5 through which the liquid can filter. A flexible sheet 3 may be interposed between the material and the base of the mould to facilitate the separation of the slab from the mould after the pressing. The base of the mould may be formed by a removable metal plate 2. The slab may be formed of a number of layers of various materials and variously coloured, or fibrous or granular substances of various colours may be distributed in the mould for producing designs or imitating marble. Pads 9 passing through holes 10 are used for removing the slabs from the moulds.
