[Classes 79 (i), 79 (ii) and 79 (v)] An agricultural tractor comprises an engine 1, an implement 9, and a hydraulic gear 2 for transmitting power from the engine to the driving wheels. The hydraulic gear may be either a clutch or a torque converter. The engine throttle is controlled by a hand lever 11 on the guiding handles 10, this lever having three main positions E, W. A. When the lever 11 is in the position E the engine speed is just sufficiently high to keep it running without transmitting sufficient torque through the clutch 2 to propel the tractor. With the lever 11 in the position W the engine runs at a higher speed and the torque transmitted through the clutch 2 is sufficient to drive the tractor at a low speed if the implement is lifted clear of the ground ; this speed is used for turning the tractor. When the lever 11 is in position A the engine is running at a sufficiently high speed to drive the tractor with the implement in the ground. The "turning" position W of the hand lever 11 is indicated to the driver by means of an adjustable ball catch 17 engaging a recess 16 in the lever. This catch is adjustable in a slot 13 in the fixed quadrant 12 and is locked in any desired position by a nut 20.
