Abstract

526,463. Escapement mechanism. REYMER, M. March 16, 1939. No. 8498. Convention date, March 16, 1938. [Class 80 (iv)] [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXXII] The distributer pipe 1 of a soot blower is supported on a stationary feed pipe 4 and is moved forward by the pressure of steam on the end of the pipe. A compensating weight 11 is raised by a chain attached to the pipe and passing over a chain wheel connected to two gear wheels 14. The pipe 1 is given a step-by-step movement by a pendulum 17 which rocks a shaft 16 carrying pawls on a member 15, the pawls engaging alternately the two gear wheels 14 which are arranged on opposite sides of member 15 and have their teeth staggered. The pendulum weight has a dashpot device comprising a piston 19 with restricted bore 20 slidable in the fluid-filled casing 18, the ends of which are connected by a passage 21 having a valve 22. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 229,718, 247,434, 247,456, and 285,964, [all in Class 99 (ii)].
