Abstract

526,386. Respiratory apparatus. BRONZAVIA SOC. ANON. March 14, 1939, No. 8229. Convention date, March 15, 1938. [Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] Apparatus for automatically supplying respiratory gas to a closed space is so controlled that the supply is maintained cut-off by means of a force supplied by the occupier of the space cessation of such force, for example due to the occupant of the closed space losing consciousness, automatically opening the valve and causing supply of the gas to the closed space. Oxygen is supplied to an airman from a container 1 through a pressure-reducing valve 2 and a valve 5, spring-biassed to close, and opened by a spring plunger 10 connected to a Bowden wire 8 when a lever, mounted on the joy-stick and to which the wire 8 is connected, is released, for example on the airman's losing consciousness. The valve is enclosed by a bellows 16 having a head 9.
