Abstract

[Class 36] A seal for conductors comprises molybdenum foil 2 with molybdenum wires 3 secured to each end, fused between two quartz or hard glass tubes 1, 5, the wires being welded to conductor rods 4, 9. In the Figure, the outer tube, evacuated to assist fusion, is shown still attached at the upper end, where it can serve for observation underligh-frequency current the effectiveness of the seal. If satisfactory this extension is removed. The conductor 9 may be held in the tube 1 by closure of the glass round it or by pouring in molten copper.
