Abstract
525,919. Thermally-actuated valves. SHANKS & CO., Ltd., and SHANKS, G. M. March 3, 1939, No. 6959. [Class 135] In a thermally-actuated mixing valve for hot and cold water, the normally fixed end of an expanding rod thermal element 7 abuts against the end of a screwed spindle 12 rotatable in the casing by means of a knob 14 and having a shoulder 17 engageable, to limit the maximum permissible temperature, by an adjustable locking cover 15, the screw-thread of which is of opposite hand to that of the spindle 12. The thermal element controls hot and cold water valves 5 and 6 secured (the valve 5 adjustably) to a tube 8 which is loaded by a spring 19 to maintain the thermal element in contact with the spindle 12.
