[Class 70] In forming elastic rubber filaments from latex, the coagulated filament is stretched while in a wet gel state and is annealed by heating it while elongated and while supported throughout its length. Projections 2, Fig. 2, grooved at the outer surfaces and carried by a heated roller 1 or a travelling band pick up a heat-sensitized latex composition from one or more supply vessels 5, Fig. 1, in which the latex composition is flowing over weirs 6. The latex, gelled by the heat, is stripped by a roller 15 rotated at a rate which stretches the filament about 250 per cent. The filament is drawn through a dusting box 18, and is passed through a heating chamber 26 while supported on an endless travelling belt 14. The filaments pass through a separating comb 27 to a reel 28. Specifications 407,763, 430,107, 464,958 and 495,048 are referred to.
