Abstract

524,602. Panic bolts SHOWELL & SONS, Ltd. E., and BAKER, A.J. Feb 2, 1939, No. 3472. [Class 44] The bolts 5, 6 of an emergency exit fastening are retained in retracted position by a pivoted gravity catch so disposed as to avoid the provision of a slot in the usual operating lever to accommodate the catch. As shown, the catch 12 engages a shoulder 10b on the operating lever 10a which carries the usual crushbar 11 and operates usual bolt-control mechanism housed in the casing 4, and is pivoted at 13 between lugs 4b in which the lever 10a is pivoted at 9.
