Abstract

524,572. Fluxes. ESCOMBE, G. G. Feb. 1, 1939, No. 3387. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A flux for use in soldering operations comprises a mixture of a flux either liquid, semiliquid or solid, and up to 25 per cent. of an abrasive substance which has an abrasive action on the metal surfaces treated during the soldering operation. The abrasive substance may have a particle size of 80-300 mesh and the flux may be a resinous substance. Examples of fluxes are: (1) 50 per cent. of colophony, 45 of soft petrolatum, 5 of silica, 240 mesh ; (2) 75 of ethylene glycol, 10 of aniline salt, 15 of carborundum, 180'mesh; (3) 65 of colophony, 10 of ammonium chloride and 25 of glass powder, 80 mesh.
