Abstract

524,455. Extruding foods for livestock. ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS L. M. S. SOC. ANON., and PERMENTIER, P. R. DE. Jan. 30, 1939, No. 3099. Convention date, Dec. 9, 1938. [Class 87 (ii)] In a press for moulding animal foodstuffs in cylindrical lumps wherein a cam member turns relatively to an outer die member, the cam member comprises two half cylinders 2 relatively displaced and secured together along their plane diametrical faces. Those portions subjected to most wear are formed of removable segments 3 having projections 4 engaging grooves in the cam 2, the segments being retained in place by the engagement of one bevelled end under an undercut portion of the cam 5 and by the engagement with the other end of a removable stop 6. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes the provision of rotary and fixed blades 9, 8 past which the material is fed to the cam member. There may be a number of superposed sets of holes 13 in the dieplate 10. The holes may be provided with interchangeable nozzles 12 having curved extensions which bend the extruded material down so as to break it into lumps. The length of the lumps is varied by providing differently curved extensions. Alternatively, curved guides may be used instead of nozzles. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
