Abstract

523,902. Rollers and roller heads. LUSTRAFIL, Ltd., and BARKER, S. W. Jan. 17, 1939, No. 1533. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] Threads of artificial silk are guided during treatment, such as washing or drying, by'means of a pair of similar rollers having conical portions, 4, 5 such that the threads would normally slip down, and the slipping is prevented by an inclined bar 6 over which the threads are passed. Each roller has cylindrical parts 1, 3 joined by the conical parts 4, 5 to larger cylindrical parts 7, 8, and inclined bars 2, 9 are associated with the cylindrical parts. The threads first pass over the roller 1, guide bar 2 and roller 3, then a stretch is imparted by their passage over the conical parts 5, 4 and the bar 6; they are afterwards passed over the rollers 7, 8 and are automatically guided at the desired spacing by the bar 9. In a modification the rollers are placed askew with their axes inclined to a -median plane to which the bar 6 is also inclined, and the bars 2, 9 are omitted.
