Abstract
523,268. Refining sugar. LAMBINON, G. Dec. 29, 1938. Nos. 37787 and 37788. Convention dates, March 31 and Dec. 10. Drawings to Specification. [Class 127] In preparing sugar from the juices of sacchariferous plants, the juice is treated without chemical purification to yield raw sugar and molasses, and the raw sugar is dissolved in water, the solution purified by chemical means and treated to separate pure sugar. The raw juice is heated to 110-120‹C. to coagulate albuminous and other impurities, treated with a base to neutralize the natural acidity, filtered or centrifuged, evaporated and crystallized. The raw sugar is dissolved and the solution purified by chemical reagents such as lime, carbon dioxide, sulphur dioxide &c. and the purified juice evaporated and crystallized to produce pure sugar.
