[Class 140] [Also in Groups III and XIII] In making insulating mats of the kind described in Specification 448,543, consisting of a plurality of corrugated sheets of cellulose ester or like material united at the apices of the corrugations by an adhesive which has a solvent effect on the sheets, the adhesive is applied to parts only of the apices, the uncoated contacting areas serving to maintain the spacing of the sheets. The adhesive may be applied in lines by passing the sheets over a roller wetted with adhesive and intermittently contacting the sheets and the roller, or by use of a roller having projecting bands or fitted with a scraper which keeps parts of the roller free from liquid.
