[Classes 75 (ii) and 75 (iv)] A luminair comprises a glass globe having an upper concave part a formed as a mirror to reflect the light rays from an electric lamp bulb c after passing through a heat or light filter g in a concentrated beam on to a working area h such as a desk or surgical operating-table, and a lower part through which direct rays may pass to illuminate the surrounding area consisting of a truncated inverted cone d of opal or opalescent glass approximately parallel to the rays reflected from the upper part a, a conical surface e of clear, opal or opalescent glass approximately perpendicular to the reflected rays and a partspherical surface f either of opalescent glass or provided with a reflecting coating. The lower portion i of the upper part a may be transparent to provide ceiling illumination. The parts d, e, f may be detachable either separately or as a unit.
