Abstract
521,004. Automatic exchange switches. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. (Laethem, F. van.). Nov. 8, 1938, No. 32390. [Class 40 (iv)] A unitary flat contact-' bank for a group of switches is built up of continuous self-multipling contact strips separated by insulating strips of wood impregnated with synthetic resin or of other heat-bondable material, the assembly being then subjected to heat and pressure. Various methods are described for punching the strips from blanks. In the upper portion of Fig. 1 the lines represent cuts and the shaded parts punched out portions, the punched blank being then expanded as shown in the lower half of the figure. The root portions of the terminals 5 of a group of strips are bent to bring the terminals to the same level and the terminals may be twisted to lie in planes at right angles to the contact strips. Figs. 10 and 11 show a method of producing strips for back-to-back switches, the multipling portions being in twisted zig-zag formation although expansion , into straight formation may be effected. Specification 521,144 is referred to.
