486,384. Direct connections between conductors. MALLORY PATENTS HOLDING CO., Ltd. Sept. 27, 1937, No. 26144. Convention date, Sept. 29, 1936. [Class 38 (i)] A terminal for connection to a sheet of metal foil, for a condenser plate, is formed with a flattened portion that is bent to embrace an edge of the foil and is furnished with projections to bite into the foil or is riveted thereto by punching. The surface of the flat part of the terminal 26 may be furnished with corrugations 27, 28, Fig. 4, so arranged as to intersect at an angle when the surface is folded about the edge of foil 29, Fig. 7, so as to produce points of high pressure that cause the removal of any surface film and produce intimate contact. Alternatively the edges of the flattened part may be furnished with teeth 33, Fig. 10, that are staggered and are either pressed into contact with the surface of the foil or are bent up at right angles so as to pass through the foil. If the flattened surface is not furnished with projections, intimate contact is produced by perforating the folded terminal 21, Fig. 3, and foil 22 with a punch that forces the metal downwardly through the perforation so that a burr 25 is formed from each of the perforated layers, the burr being then flattened.
