Abstract

520,584. Automatic gain control. JONES, W., and PYE, Ltd. Oct. 25, 1938, No. 30833. [Class 40 (v)] The amplitude of a television synchronizing impulse is a measure of the received carrier and is used to control the gain of the receiver. The video signal is applied over condenser C1 and resistance R1 to a valve V, the grid of which is biassed to prevent conduction. During the synchronizing interval, the grid is made positive, and a potential is developed across resistance R2 proportional to the amplitude of the impulse, and is used to effect the gain control.
