Abstract
519,823. Coating metals. PYRENE CO.. Ltd. (Parker Rust Proof Co.). Sept. 26, 1938, No. 28018. [Class 82 (ii)] In the production of corrosion resistant coatings on iron, steel, zinc, or other metal surfaces, by treatment with phosphate or other solutions such as those containing the acid radical of an aliphatic dicarboxylic or hydroxydicarboxylic acid or of an aromatic carboxylic, phenolic-carboxylic, or sulphonic acid, an oxidizing or nitro accelerator, of the classes described in Specifications 386,739 and 510,684, for example nitrites, nitrates, sulphites, nitromethane, nitrourea, nitroguanidine, nitrourethane, nitrobenzene, nitrobenzoic acid, picric acid, cyanides, isocyanides, sodium nitroprusside, hydroxylamine, and quinones, is applied to the metal surface prior to the application of the coating solution. The surface may be dipped into or sprayed with the accelerator and then without drying may be treated with the coating solution, for example, by dipping or spraying. The coating solution may contain an accelerator.
