Abstract

519,664. Vacuum cleaners. WHITAKER, A., and BARNES, N. Sept. 22, 1938, No. 26414/39. Divided out of 519,630, [Group XXVI] [Class 8 (i)] A flexible hose connection 10 can be fixed over the mouth of the floor-nozzle of a vacuum cleaner by clips engaging automatically. The connection comprises a covered portion 12, a rubber sealing strip 17 at the rear end engaging the nozzle plate 4 on the under side, brackets with lugs 19 engaging the upper side of the plate. and spring clips 20 with heads engaging a bead which runs round the nozzle mouth and secures the end of a rubber cover 6. Pins 22 enable the clins to be released for removal of the hose connection. Alternatively the seal formed by the cover 6 may be replaced by a gasket carried by the hose connection. Specifications 145,665 and 337,202, [both in Class 8 (i)], are referred to.
