519,152. Presses for separating liquids from solids. ATKIELSKAPET BERGENS MEKANISKE VERKSTEDER., and STERNER, C. Feb. 6, 1939, Nos. 3823, and 3824. Convention dates, April 8, 1938, and Nov. 21, 1938. [Class 46] A screw press is provided with a pressure feeding device which forces the material through a straining chamber into the screw press. As shown, material supplied to a funnel 2 is forced by a reciprocating piston 3 past a spring- controlled valve 16 and through a perforated casing 12, where part of the liquid is separated, into the casing of the screw press 8. A cone 14 guides the material into the press. The piston 3 and casing 15 instead of being in axial alignment with the screw press may be at an angle thereto. Any other forcing device, for example, a gear pump, may replace the piston.
