Abstract

519,137. Electric radiators. FERRANTI, Ltd., WATKISS, J. H., and FLETCHER, A. M. Sept. 29, 1938, No. 28274. [Class 39 (iii)] An electric fire, having a reflector 1 curved only in one direction, is provided with a heating element consisting of a rod 6 of refractory material, two or more short portions only of.. which such as 7, 8 are wound with resistance wire. Each portion is spatially separated from adjacent heating portions, but is electrically connected thereto, for example, by a portion 9 of increased pitch, or by a metal tube clamped over the rod between the coils. Fig. 4 shows two or more rods 11 spaced at intervals along the reflector, and held by brackets 13, the coils 12 being connected by low resistance wire 14.
