[Class 55 (ii)] In apparatus of the kind in which air is forced by a fan through the upper part of rotor having its lower.part immersed in water, a rotor R formed of a spiral coil of sheet material, a fan 33 and driving means for the fan and rotor are mounted in a casing- B to form a selfcontained unit. An electric motor 32 mounted on a bracket 28 drives the fan directly and drives the rotor through reduction gear 34 and a clutch. The rotor may consist of a core member 50 in which is wound a spiral coil. of sheet material formed with spring projections as described in Specification 518,961.
