Abstract

518,790. Automatic control systems. McKEAN, J. G. Sept. 5, 1938, No. 25871. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (iv)] Temperature; fluid pressure. -A boiler having an electrically-driven stoker for solid fuel automatically started and stopped in accordance with the boiler temperature or pressure has also a liquid burner controlled simultaneously with the stoker. Valves in fuel and atomizing air or steam pipes are electromagnetically opened by current supplied to the stoker motor, and a damper similarly operated may admit air between the fire and' the burner. In an alternative' arrangement pumps for liquid fuel and atomising air may be driven by a motor connected in series with the stoker motor. A switch may be provided to render the burner inoperative.
