Abstract

518,564. Valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO., Ltd., and SHERLOCK, J. E. June 24, 1938, No. 18819. [Class 135] A thermostatically controlled valve comprises a thermostat mounted on a fixed part, and a valve mounted on a removable part and resiliently thrust against a fixed stop, the arrangement enabling the valve to be removed and replaced without disturbing the temperature setting. The valve 30 and thermostat T shown in the Figure control the fuel-supply of a burner employed in a refrigerator. The thermostat is mounted on a fixed support 13 and comprises a bellows 12 provided with a cylinder 14 pressed by a spring 15 abutting on a nut 16 which is prevented from rotating by a slidable member 18, and is adjustable by means of a rotatable bolt 19. Pins 24 on the cylinder engage a pivoted yoke 21 which is provided with a roller 22 and is connected to a spring 25. The valve 30 comprises a casing formed with an inlet 2 and outlet 3 and containing a plunger 20 which is urged by a spring 27 into engagement with the roller 22. The valve is loosely mounted in a removable tray 32 and is resiliently supported by a spring 29 which thrusts a flange 31 on the valve against a fixed stop 33 consisting of a forked member having inclines 34 at the end. When the valve is replaced, the flange rides under the inclines, the spring is compressed and the flange is then pressed into contact with the stop. Specification 518,610 is referred to.
