Abstract
517,736. Motors. AMSLER, M. July 29, 1938, No. 22675..[Class 35] The cutter element of a dry shaver is driven by an electric motor provided with a switch to vary the connections of the field winding and so adapt the motor for operation on at least two different supply voltages. As shown, a soft iron armature A rotates between the poles of a field magnet F and operates by means of a cam k a contact lever l, the contacts n being in the circuit of the field winding. The field winding consists of three sections w1, w2, w3 connected to the contacts p1, p2 of a switch o in such a way that when the motor is to operate on a low voltage, say 110 volts, the switch is set on the contact p1. and the windings w1, w2, are in circuit. For operation on 220 volts, the switch is moved to the contact p2 whereby all the windings are in circuit. The winding resistances are preferably such that the field ampere turns are substantially the same on all voltages. The interrupter n is arranged with part of the field winding on each side of it and a condenser q -is connected across the supply terminals in order to reduce interference with radio apparatus.
