Abstract

466,349. Automatic control systems. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and GIVEN, R. D. Oct. 22, 1935, No. 29164. [Class 38 (iv)] Speed.-A dynamo-electric machine M is coupled to an alternator A connected in a circuit resonant at a predetermined frequency and including a solenoid relay R operative between definite points on the steep part of the resonance current curve corresponding to speeds below the resonance point. The relay actuates mechanism controlling an electrical element of the machine, such as a reversible motor K adjusting a resistance in an auxiliary field circuit or the brush shifting mechanism of an A.C. commutator motor. A centrifugal switch S may short-circuit contacts operated by the relay to cause a speed reducing action at all speeds above the response zone of the relay. Specification 444,269 is referred to.
