[Class 52 (iii)] A shoe rack for use in factories comprises invertible shelves each having on one face spaced bars 18 between which shoes 38 on their lasts may be supported bottom upwards and on the other face a flat surface 20 on which shoes may be supported bottom downwards. Each shelf comprises end pieces 14 and the surface 20 is preferably mounted on a frame 19 movable between the underside of the bars and retaining frame 21 as the shelf is inverted. The shoe supporting surfaces may be covered with cloth &c. The shelves are pivoted by means of studs 24 screwed into plates 26 attached to the end pieces 14 and slidable in vertical slots 22 in end members 12 of the rack frame, and the plates 26 have notches 28, 30 adapted to engage pins 32 on the members 12 to retain the shelves in set position. The edges 40 of the plates 26 are curved to guide the notches on to the pins in the turning over movement of the shelves and the notches are arranged so that the shelves are inclined with the bars uppermost and horizontal with the plane surfaces uppermost. A modification is described in which a barred support, which may be formed by a sinuously bent wire, is fixed below a hinged portion of a flat fixed shelf, so that shoes may be supported bottom upwards on the bars when. the hinged portion is folded back on to the fixed portion, and supported bottom downwards when the hinged part is turned to be coplanar with the fixed part.
