516,707. Asphalt &c. heating and spraying apparatus. MARINI, G. July 5, 1938, No. 19938. Convention date, July 8, 1937. [Class 107] A machine for preparing and spraying asphaltic and like viscous road-surfacing materials comprises a heating tank 1, in which the asphaltic powders are mixed with bitumen, tar or oil, and two reservoirs 4,. 5 to which the heated mixture is fed and from which, alternatively, it is sprayed. In use, the filling of one reservoir is effected while the other is being emptied, so that spraying proceeds without interruption. The tank and reservoirs shown are fitted with rotary stirrers 2, 10, respectively, and the shaft 3 of the stirrer in the tank is fitted with a brush 16 which cleans a filter 15 in front of the outlets 6, 7. By these, the mixture is conveyed to the reservoirs by funnels 8, 9. When filled, the reservoirs are sealed and supplied with compressed air to effect the spraying. Compressed air may be used to atomise the mixture issuing from the sprayer, and to supply the air to the fuel burners beneath the tank 1.
