Abstract

516,287. Angular bending. ADAMSON & CO., Ltd., D., PARKYN, R. W., and NORTON, T. June 22, 1938, No. 18521. [Class 83 (iv)] A machine for shaping circular or other metal plates comprises means 16, 17 for holding and rotating a plate while bending members 56 operate from the edge of the plate inwards to give it its' desired shape. The head 17 is carried by a ram 18 on a bridge 19 adapted to be moved to the rear for the insertion of a fresh plate &c. by racks 25, gearing 26 &c. and a motor 30 and to be locked in position, when pressure is applied to a plate on the removable head 16, by overhanging parts 34. The circular plate is centred by four radially moving rollers 58 and, after the head 17 has been moved down to clamp the work and a detachable roller 47 positioned by motor-driven screws 43, the roller 56 is turned into any desired angle, as shown in Fig. 7, by a quadrant 52 and motordriven worm, and is moved radially inwards by a motor-driven screw 40 to bend the edge of the sheet, which is rotated by motor-driven gears 15, 14, over the roller 47. The angle of the roller may be altered during the process as shown in Fig. 8. Pressure water for the ram 18 is supplied by jointed pipes 38.
