Abstract
516,062. Vehicle spring-suspensions. NEVILLE, G. E. June 18, 1938, No. 18123. [Class 108 (ii)] In motor vehicles having two front axles provided with wheels which are interconnected for steering purposes and carried by leaf springs' the springs at each side of the vehicle or the axles are positively connected so that the axles remain the same or approximately the same distance apart irrespective of the unequal flexing of the springs. As shown in Fig. 1, the adjacent ends of the springs A, E, are connected to the chassis by triangular shackles, which are connected together by a link H. The other ends of the springs are connected to a fixed part B of the chains and to a shackle G respectively. In a modified form of apparatus, the adjacent ends of the spring are connected to the base angles of a single triangular shackle. As shown in Fig. 4 the axles are connected together by links K having ball-and-socket joints at the ends.
