Abstract

515,971. Colour developers. KODAK, Ltd. (Eastman Kodak Co.) June 17, 1938, No. 18049. [Class 98 (ii)] 2:6 - di - iodo - 4 --aminophenol is used as the developing agent in processes of colour development. The colour coupler may be present in the developer or in the sensitive layer. Suitable colour couplers are 4-chloro-o-phenylphenol, 1- (w-cyanacetyl) coumarone, 1-(p-nitrophenyl)-3- methyl-5-pyrazolohe, 8-hydroxy-quinoline; pbenzoyl-acetoacetanilide, di-(o-hydroxybenzal)- cyclohexanone, alpha - naphthol, 2:4 - dichloro -alphanaphthol, and #-naphthoylacetonitrile. The coupler may be used in a water miscible solvent such as acetone. Multilayer or mixed grain emulsion layers containing different couplers in the layers or grains may be used.
