Abstract

515,556. Trolley-wire clamps. WATSON, T. M. June 22, 1938, No. 18499. [Class 36] A trolley-wire terminal fitting comprises a body 5 having a longitudinal seating 6 for receiving the trolleywire 9 and provided with one or more transverse slots 10, in each of which is located a clamp 13 having jaws 14 partly embracing the wire, the wire being clamped by bolts 16 passing through clearance holes 11 in bosses 12 of the body and screwing into tapped holes in the clamps 13 so that the ends of the bolts press on the trolley-wire. The ends of the bolts are preferably pointed and enter recesses in the trolley-wire. The ends of the bolts may be serrated and hardened so that they form their own recesses. The tension of the trolley-wire is transmitted to the body 5 by the clamps which abut against the walls of the slots 10. The length of the bolts 16 may be such that, on tightening them, their heads bear against the bosses 12, with or without the interposition of , washers, so that the clamps are drawn into the slots, thereby clamping the trolley-wire firmly against its seating 6 in the manner described in Specification 515,557.
