Abstract
514,042. Receptive surfaces for dye-impression printing. BARISS, A. A. VON, and BARISS CO., Ltd. March 23, 1938. No. 8942. [Class 98 (ii)] A support for the reception of dye-impression print in one or more colours for photographic originals comprises, in the order named, a sealing layer, an acid-impregnated layer, a 'layer containing mordant for some or all of the dyes, and a top layer of hardened gelatin. Where an impervious carrier is used, e.g., a cinematograph film. or a paper having a sealing layer incorporated. this may constitute the bottom sealing layer of the material. The sealing layer may be of hardened gelatin or collodion. The second layer may be of gelatin rendered acid with weak sulphuric acid. The mordant layer may be of hard gelatin containing silico - tungstic or phospho - tungstic acid in the case of paper supports or alkaline tanninpotassium antimony tartrate, Tannanol. or the material known under the Registered Trade Mark "Katanol" in the case of celluloid film supports. The top layer is of hardened gelatin. Coagulation inhibitors such as potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate, zinc chloride or ammonium acetate may be included in either of both of the two upper layers. The coloured lake is formed at the interface of the second and third layers.
