Abstract
1335422 Photographic direct-positive silver halide material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 April 1970] 27281/71 Heading G2C A direct-positive photographic silver halide material contains, in a silver halide emulsion layer and/or an adjacent layer, a compound of the formula:- wherein the R groups may be the same or different and each represents H, CH 3 , C 2 H 5 or benzyl, R' represents H, CH 3 or Cl; each S is SO 3 H, SO 3 <SP>-</SP> or its alkali metal, calcium or ammonium salt; and nis O or 1, provided that the total number of S groups is 1, 2 or 3. The material may also contain pinakryptol yellow or another dye in the emulsion layer and/or the adjacent layer. The adjacent layer may be an anti-halation layer (see Example 2). The above compounds have no influence on ordinary silver halide emulsions but act as desensitizer, sensitizing dye and anti-halation dye in directpositive emulsions. The developed material has high contrast, less residual colour and excellent image sharpness.
