Abstract
1479739 Positive dye images from diffusion transfer material FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 18 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 40757/74 Heading G2C At least one secondary positive dye image is formed from a film unit having a primary positive image on a white background and obtained by spreading an alkaline processing composition as a layer between (a) an image-receiving element having a transparent support through which the primary positive image to be formed may be observed, and (b) an imagewise exposed negative light-sensitive element comprising a transparent support having thereon at least two negative-type silver halide emulsion layers, each emulsion layer being sensitive to a different spectral region, and having associated therewith a first dye-providing material capable of providing, upon development, a diffusible dye or a precursor thereof in a positive imagewise distribution and a second dye-providing material capable of providing a complementary negative imagewise distribution of a non-diffusible dye, by (i) delammating the negative element after development from the receiving element, (ii) oxidizing the silver image in the developed negative element, (iii) dissolving out the oxidizing silver together with residual silver halide to prepare a colour negative, (iv) imagewise exposing to light, through the thusprepared colour negative, a multi-colour photographic print material containing at least two incorporated coupler negative-type silver halide emulsion layers and (v) developing the exposed print material with an alkaline aqueous solution containing an aromatic primary amine colour developer. The first dye-providing material may be a diffusible dye releasing coupler and be used together with a second dye-providing material which is a coupler capable of forming a non-diffusible dye. The diffusible dye releasing coupler may be present in a layer, adjacent the negative-type silver halide emulsion layer, containing physical development nuclei, see Ex. 1, 2 and 4. Each silver halide emulsion layer may contain a development inhibitorreleasing coupler and a diffusible dye releasing coupler may be present in an adjacent layer containing spontaneously reducible silver salt which is slightly soluble in water, see Ex. 3 and 5. In Ex. 2 the image-receiving element comprises a white, light-reflecting layer treated with a 1% acetone solution of polyethylene glycol (1000) monocetyl ether to form a layer 0.1 micron thick.
