Abstract

513,882. Preventing dimming of windscreens. PAINE, H. SCOTT-, and BARKER, S. N, April 22, 1938, No. 12162. [Class 20 (iii)] [Also in Group IV] Relates to windscreens of the kind having a rotating portion or disc 1 adapted to throw off, by centrifugal force, any water which adheres to it. According to the invention, the disc is formed of transparent synthetic resin plastic. The disc shown is driven by a motor housed in a casing 3 which is carried by a supporting arm 4. The latter is secured to the fixed portion 2 of the windscreen, which portion is also formed of synthetic resin. Any water thrown off the disc 1 or entering the annular gap between the bevelled edges 8, 9 of the disc and screen portion 2, is collected by traps or gutters 5, 11, which are integrally formed with the screen portion 2.
