513,843. Protecting seeds from birds. ELSON, L. A., SHARP, F. L., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES. Ltd. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5514. [Class 81 (i)] Seeds are treated with carbon black or pulverulent or liquid compositions containing it to render them unattractive to birds. The compositions may also contain a proportion of fungicidal substances and/or natural or synthetic phytohormones such as #-indolylacetic acid, alpha and #-napthylacetic acids, #-indolylbutyric acid, phenylacetic acids, and salts and esters thereof. The pulverulent compositions may contain an inert filler or diluent and/or an anti-dust agent. The liquid compositions contain carbon, black in an aqueous or oily medium, with a wetting or dispersing agent if desired. Specifications 7137/13, [Class 2 (iii)], and 510,510 are referred to.
