Abstract

513,802. Manually-operated valves. LANGSDORF, W. April 22, 1938; No. 12073. [Class 135] A valve adapted for rapid or gradual operation comprises a valve member 2 carried on a screwed spindle 3 mounted in a piston-like nut member 5 slidable in a tubular extension 6 of the valve casing and having one or more pins 8 slidable in one or more notched slots in the extension 6 the notches receiving the pins to prevent axial movement of the nut member. As shown two diametrically-opposite pins 8, 8<1> are provided, one 8 projecting into a slot 7 having an upwardly extending notch at one end and the other 8' engaging a slot 11 with a downwardly projecting notch 12. The pins are maintained in the notches by a pivoted rod 13 having a tension spring 14 at one end, or by a bar 16, Fig. 3, having compression springs 17 at one or both ends. The spindle 3 has a handwheel 10 and moves in a felt packing 19. A cam or lever may be provided to control the movement of the nut 5.
