Abstract
337,339. Hesselman, K. J. E. April 22, 1929, [Convention date]. Helical springs used for example in connection with one-way ball valves are made with one or both ends counter-sunk slightly, the counter-sunk recess being concentric with the axis of the spring so that the ball valve when disengaged from its seat is not displaced laterally. The spring 11 used in connection with the lower ball valve 9 is counter-sunk at the ends in such a way that the ball remains concentric with its seat when not in contact therewith, while the upper spring 10, the ends of which are finished in the usual manner, tends to displace its ball valve laterally.
