Abstract

512,812. Look-out reflectors for vehicles. STADIUM, Ltd., and SEYMOUR, L. G. March 21, 1938, No. 8691. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] A device for mounting a driving mirror, spotlight, or other article, more particularly on a road vehicle, comprises a supporting arm 20 provided at its article-engaging end with an enlarged head 21 which is of smoothly rounded contour and which has a part-spherical surface 22 held in close fitting and adjustable relation to a complementary part-spherical surface 19 formed upon the body of the article to be mounted, the two complementary surfaces being maintained in their adjusted position by clamping means which are located entirely within the enlarged head and the body of the article, and whose clamping pressure can be controlled by a screw 26 whose head is arranged to be flush with the surface of said enlarged head. The clamping-members comprise, in the form shown, a nut 28 and plates 31. The nut 28 is provided with a squared shank 32 which fits into a corresponding bore 23 in the head 21 to prevent the nut from turning. A rim 34 on the nut is adapted to come into positive contact with the clamping-plate 31 and lock the whole joint in a rigid manner. The part-spherical body portion 19 may be eccentric in relation to the article to permit of an extended range of adjustment.
