Abstract

512,807. Lasting - machines. BRITISH UNITED SHOE MACHINERY CO., Ltd. and ROBERTS, W. T. B. March 17, 1938, No. 8208. Addition to 489,649. [Class 17 (i)] The mechanism between the forepart clamp and its actuating treadle described in the parent Specification and its basic Specification 470,749, is modified to limit the pressure with which the toe rest is thrust against the shoe. The treadle 11 is pivoted at 13 to the end of an arm 15 pivoted at 17 and urged downwardly by a spring 27 adjustable by a screwed sleeve 31. The treadle is connected to the toe rest by a lever 3 carrying a roll 5 engaging a step on a link 7 urged counterclockwise by a spring, all as described in the prior Specifications. To free the link 7 from the lever 3 after the pawls 39 have taken charge as described in the prior Specifications a lever 45, described in the prior Specifications as swinging before the wipers commence their up-wiping movement, is provided with an angularly adjustable extension 43 engaging the link at its pivot to disconnect the toe rest from the treadle.
