Abstract

512,176. Electromagnetic switches. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A. (Schiele Industriewerke.). May 31, 1938, No. 16189. [Class 38 (v)] An electromagnetic switch has an armature 7 in a carrier 8 provided with slots 14 for the ready attachment and removal of the sets of fixed and moveable contacts as units. Each contact unit comprises a pair of insulating plates la, 1b, pressed together by a spring clip 20 so as to hold between them in grooves 24 a pair of fixed and movable contacts as units. Each contact bridge 3 is compressed between plates 9, 10 by a spring 11 on a bolt 11a, the plate 9 being fixed to a cradle 12 slidable in vertical grooves 25 in the plates 1a, 1b. The upper part of cradle 12 has a transverse arm 13 the ends 13a of which are slid into slots 14 of the armature carrier 8 to provide the operative connection between the armature and the movable contact bridge 3. The contact unit when slid into position is held by a spring 19 which serves to press the fixed contacts 2a, 2b into engagement with bus bars 16a, 16b. The contact units are removed by pulling the clips 20, after which the units can be dissembled and the contacts replaced without the use of tools.
