512,100. Stuffing-box substitutes. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGER-FABRIKEN. Nov. 4, 1938, No. 32058. Convention date, Dec. 14, 1937. [Class 122 (v)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A bearing is cooled and protected from dust by a current of air which is admitted through ducts 13, 14 in the spindle 1 and passes between sealing members 7, 11, on the outside of the bearing. The member 7 is secured to the bearing housing 6 and has a conical face 10. The member 11 fixed to the spindle has ducts opening to the radial ducts 14 and wings 12 which co-operate with the surface 10 and produce the air current upon rotation of the spindle. In a modification a ring 20 on the spindle has radial grooves 19 communicating with radial ducts 18 and the end surface 17 of a pulley 3 on the spindle is separated from a cover member 8 by a sealing space through which the air passes.
