Abstract
512,036. Jigging conveyers; drying and cooling granular &c. material; jaw crushers. SIMON, W. G., and SIMON, F. R. Feb. 25, 1938, Nos. 6044 and 10803. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups II and XIII] Materials are heated, dried or cooled during conveyance by . progressively traversing and vibrating them through an enclosed undivided trough in such a manner as to produce a succession of cascades and directing air and/or gas under pressure longitudinally into the space below the material supporting means in the direction of travel of the material and so as to pass upwardly through the material at the cascades. The conveyer 11 is disposed in a trough 10, Fig. 2, into which air or gas is blown through a pipe 19. The conveyer consists of a series of inclined plates 12 which overlap one another and have a narrow gap 15 between them. The trough is supported by a series of spring members 24, preferably of ash wood or hickory, the tension of which may be adjusted by varying the length of the connecting rod 32 by means of the nut 33. The material is delivered to the trough from a hopper 21 associated with which is a preliminary crusher comprising a plate 35, Fig. 4, and an opposed plate 37. The plate 35 is pivoted to the hopper at 36 and is movable against the resistance of springs 38. The plate 37 has a bolt and slot connection with an angle plate 42 attached to the trough 10. Material passes from the conveyer 11 on to a sieve 43, Fig. 3, which jigs in unison with the conveyer. The material which passes through the sieve is discharged through a jigging shoot 44. The coarser material passes from the sieve to a crusher 45, and after crushing is delivered to a sieve 46 which is situated above and vibrates with the shoot 44. The coarse material from this sieve is directed into lateral discharge ducts 48 by a deflector 47. The crusher 45 comprises plates 49, 50, the latter of which moves with the trough 10, and the former of which is pivoted and is adjustable by bolts 51. When it is desired to remove surplus moisture from the material before treatment on the conveyer, it is passed through centrifuges and delivered to bunkers 55. An endless belt conveyer 56 passes through the base of the bunkers and delivers the material to the hopper 21.
