Abstract

511,785. Moulding plastic sweetmeats. HENKEL, A. A. Feb. 23, 1938, No. 5702. Convention date, March 20,1937. [Class 87 (ii)] In a machine for moulding and embossing sweets in tablet form wherein a rope 39 of plastic sugar is passed between and severed by an endless chain of moulds 6, 19 and embossed by co-operating lateral embossers 22, adjacent embossers are moved to embossing positions which are relatively staggered whereby adjacent tablets are completely separated, the embossers remaining in such positions until they are opened to release the tablets. The embossers 22 may be mounted on rods 23 operated by fixed cams 25, 26 and the rods may be alternately long and short, Fig. 3. In another form the rods are all of the same length and the embossing heads are alternately deep and shallow. The rods may be returned outwardly by fixed cams 29 engaging projections 28 on the rods. The half-moulds 6 are provided on an inner rotary member 5 mounted on a shaft 9 and secured between two discs having flanges whereto the half-moulds 19 are pivoted. The half-moulds 19 are moved to and retained in closed position by a fixed cam 20, 20a. They may open under gravity or by cam means.
