Abstract
511,260. Cast iron ; mixing fluids with solids in flow. BUDERUS'SCHE EISENWERKE. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35884. Convention date, Dec. 27, 1937. [Classes 72 and 86] [Also in Groups XII and XXII] In centrifugal and other casting in which powdered ferro-silicon, calcium-silicon, or other solid is added to the iron or other material before solidification, the powder is introduced from below into a trough through which the molten material flows. The powder may be fed from a container 5 to the trough 1 by a controllable driven worm 3 which engages the free end of a leaf spring 11 which by its movement keeps the powder loose and avoids lumps. For centrifugally cast tubes calcium silicon having particles up to 0.3 mm. is suitable. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also introducing the powder with the casting jet. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
