Abstract

510,461. Sun-blinds. PAGE, A. C. Feb. 4, 1938, No. 3537. [Class 20 (iii)] The members 1, 2, 3 of the telescopic supporting arms of a sun-blind or awning carry locking devices 4, 7 which lock the members together when the blind is extended. Further, the locking device 4 serves to lock the member 1 to a guide plate 5 when the blind is in its. closed position. The locking device 4 shown is spring-controlled and is urged into its locking engagement with the plate 5 by means of a fixed bar 8. Upon extending the blind the members 2, 3 first move outwardly and as they reach the limit of their travel the member 2 engages with the member 1 and moves it sufficiently to enable the device 4 to be lifted by its spring from its engagement with a recess 6 in the plate 5. The member 1 then moves outwardly and is locked to the member 2 by the locking device 4. When closing the blind all three members first move inwardly together the release of the device 4 from the member 2 being ultimately effected by the bar 8, and the unlocking of the device 7 being effected by its engagement with the front end of the member 1. In a modification the guiding plates 5 are pivotally mounted and the inner end of the member 1 carries a collar engaging with a horizontal overhead track.
