[Class 52 (ii)] In a drop-side cot, the drop-side slides vertically on rods or guides and is normally held raised by one or more catches each consisting of a peg f carried by and projecting inwardly from the lower rail e of the drop-side in. conjunction with a vertical plate k mounted on the cot frame and having a downwardly facing V notch l in which the peg engages, and a manually-operated lever m having a notch p in one edge to retain the peg f, the lever being urged into locking position by a spring. The lever m has an inclined edge q so that when the side is raised the peg f forces the lever aside. The lever may be extended as at v for operation by the foot, and where two catches are provided, they are connected for simultaneous operation by a rod u.
